Bringing Together Government, Front Line Homelessness Service Providers, Philanthropists and Private Business
Homelessness in Victoria, and certainly across Australia, remains as complex an issue as ever. As leading proponents for community welfare and social wellbeing, Creswick Wool recently hosted a Homelessness Forum in Melbourne’s CBD.
The event brought together key social and government partners, Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece and Victorian Minister for Housing Harriet Shing to shine a light on this important issue and discuss the many challenges surrounding homelessness in Melbourne and beyond.
The Major Outcomes
The forum delivered numerous key outcomes that included the following:
-
A platform for front line service providers to communicate success and opportunities.
-
The creation of a unique opportunity to inform State & Municipal Government leadership.
-
It connected key providers to create opportunities for greater efficiencies.
-
Identification of resource requirements.
-
Brought together Philanthropy with valuable service providers.
When you combine these achievements, it delivers a clear path towards more cohesive and effective action. A path that will hopefully ensure no Victorian is left without a safe place to call home.
Valued Partnerships That Drive Lasting Change
The forum drew heavily on Creswick’s long-standing social partnerships, forged through the Creswick Annual Blanket Drive, which has donated more than A$1 million worth of wool blankets since 1996.
Each Creswick Wool charity partnership we form matters, and we are thrilled to team up with the following charities for our Annual Blanket Drive and the Homelessness Forum:
-
St Vinnies
-
The Salvation Army
-
300 Blankets
-
Australian Red Cross
-
The Ballarat Foundation
Joining forces with these valued organisations allows us to truly maximise the reach of every blanket we donate. It transforms a shared goodwill into enduring change for people who need it most.
A Final Word…
If there is one thing that the Creswick Woollen Mills Homelessness Forum proved, it’s that when industry, government and community groups join forces around a shared goal, progress accelerates. So as winter continues to inch closer by the day, and the mercury drops, Creswick will continue to transform natural fibre craftsmanship into tangible warmth, dignity and hope.
