Cashmere Blankets
Cashmere Wool Blankets
When only the finest will do, a cashmere wool blanket from Creswick is the natural place to begin. Blending 20% Cashmere with 80% Lambswool, the Royal Cashmere Wool Blanket is the finest blanket we have ever made for a bed — and the softest cashmere layer we put the Creswick name to.
Cashmere is one of the rarest natural fibres in the world. Each goat produces only a few grams of usable down a year, which is why cashmere is usually reserved for scarves and knitwear rather than something as generous as a full-size bed blanket. Blending it through Lambswool is what makes a cashmere blanket of this size possible, and what gives it the strength to be used every night for decades.
Key Features and Benefits
20% Cashmere The softest natural fibre in the world, and warmer than wool by weight. It is what gives this blanket its handle — the quiet, weightless softness you notice the first time you touch it, and the warmth you notice the first night you sleep under it.
80% Lambswool The wool brings the strength and the spring. It holds its shape, resists pilling and recovers its loft night after night, so the softness you feel on the first evening is still there decades later.
Naturally Temperature Regulating Both fibres draw in and release moisture as your body temperature shifts overnight. You stay warm without ever waking up too hot — the opposite of synthetic blends, which trap heat and hold it.
Wide Satin Border, Mitred by Hand Cool and smooth against the skin, and the part of the blanket that does the hardest work. A wide satin binding protects the edge from the wear of nightly use and washing, and hand-mitred corners keep their shape instead of pulling out over time.
Cut and Finished in Australia Cut, bound and inspected at the Creswick mill, by the people who have been working with natural fibre here since 1947.
Naturally Hypoallergenic and Odour Resistant Both fibres resist dust mites and inhibit the bacteria that cause odour, so the blanket stays fresh with far less washing than cotton or synthetics — which is a large part of why it lasts.
Natural and Biodegradable Two natural fibres and nothing else. No synthetic content, and no microplastic shed in the wash.
Why Choose a Cashmere and Wool Blend Blanket?
A blend gives you both halves of what a blanket needs to do. Cashmere delivers the handle — that light, almost weightless softness against the skin, and more warmth per gram than wool alone. Australian wool delivers the structure — resilience, loft recovery and resistance to pilling, so the blanket keeps its shape and its softness year after year.
Like all our natural fibre blankets, this one breathes. Both cashmere and wool absorb and release moisture as your body temperature changes through the night, so you stay warm without overheating — something no synthetic blanket can do. Both fibres are also naturally resistant to dust mites and to the bacteria that cause odour, so a cashmere wool blanket needs far less washing than cotton or synthetic bedding, and lasts considerably longer for it.
Satin Bound, Mitred by Hand
Every Royal Cashmere Wool Blanket is finished with a wide satin binding, mitred by hand at each corner. The binding is more than decorative: it takes the wear at the edge of the blanket where nightly use and washing do the most damage, and hand-mitred corners hold their shape instead of pulling out over time. Satin is also cool and smooth where the blanket meets your face and shoulders — the traditional finish for a blanket meant to be kept and handed on.
Caring for Your Cashmere Wool Blanket
Cashmere blankets ask for a little more care than everyday bedding, and reward it. We recommend dry cleaning for the best result. If you prefer to wash at home, hand wash in cold water with a wool or cashmere detergent, press the water through gently rather than rubbing or wringing, and dry flat in the shade. Never tumble dry, bleach or spin dry a cashmere wool blanket.
Between washes, air the blanket outdoors on a still, shaded day to freshen it. Store it clean in a breathable cotton bag with cedar or lavender. Always follow the care instructions on the label of your blanket.
